ABOUT BORRENBERGHS

Guided by the visionary Tessa Borrenberghs, Borrenberghs is more than a brand—it's a philosophy of mindful creation, the art of creating feminine minimalism. Our essence resonates in the delicate balance of wellbeing, sustainability, innovation, and individuality. Rooted in Belgian and Danish cultures, Borrenberghs' style aesthetics define themselves as feminine minimalism with a nod to the 90s. Driven by the mission to redefine fashion, Tessa embarked on a transformative journey, fusing elegance with sustainability.

We focus on creating multi-functionality garments and bespoke designs that suit the female body and stand the test of time. We pay attention to the little things, like adding extra functional straps, so our clothes can fit well on all kinds of bodies. We know that a woman's body goes through changes during the day, and we think your clothes should be flexible enough to change along with you. People often say our clothes have a graceful, draped look with a touch of architectural flair.

Borrenberghs is an ongoing experiment in reshaping the fashion industry for the better. Step by step. It exists to put into action those recommendations that all the books on sustainability of our home planet say we must do immediately to avoid certain destruction of nature and collapse of our civilization. It exists to challenge conventional wisdom and present a new style of responsible business and to inspire other businesses striving to become a place that everybody loves working at on a sustainable basis.

Our Belgian atelier is where time takes on a different rhythm—a haven where worries dissolve. Each stitch weaves stories of empowerment and self-assurance, creating an oasis of elegance, comfort, and unwavering strength. Borrenberghs defies convention, reshaping responsible business. We're focused on local production, responsible design, multifarious size ranges, and a circular business model.

The prêt-a-porter, produced 100% exclusively in Belgium through a self made network of skilled seamstresses, Borrenberghs embraces a pre-order system to eliminate waste. Our own atelier offers bespoke services, reflecting your values and amplifying your presence. This departure from the seasonal calendar paves our unique path. We use leftover fabrics from big luxury houses like LVMH or we order natural fiber fabrics within Europe, for example: Italy. Borrenberghs also supports innovation and is open to collaborate with visionary people that invent new options for sustainable fabrics. We like to participate in the developing project and offer our user experience design knowledge

Tessa is deeply committed to the concept of responsibility, and this principle of circularity is at the core of our endeavors. Within the atelier, we craft exceptional designs utilizing materials sourced from our own waste, stemming from both prêt-a-porter and bespoke creations. In addition to our bespoke services, we proudly provide repair and upcycling options for all Borrenberghs garments that have come into existence. Furthermore, we offer the possibility of reselling/repurchasing pre-owned Borrenberghs garments for our clients in our atelier. We take full responsibility.

More than fashion, Borrenberghs invites you to embrace feminine minimalism, sustainability, celebrate individuality, and discover the comfort and strength within you. Join us on this transformative journey—an invitation to a new way of living. Our creations are open for all. We base our designs on the female structure but we can’t help but spot other people wearing our designs as well.

About Tessa Borrenberghs

At the forefront of sustainable fashion, Tessa Borrenberghs is reshaping the industry. Raised amidst the serene landscapes of Limburg, Belgium. And now part of the Limburg six. Armed with a master's degree in industrial design from the Luca School of Arts, she set out to seamlessly combine elegance with innovation. Tessa's path balances creativity and a strong ethical compass.

Her journey began humbly, stitching garments for herself as a hobby. The catalyst? A realization that fast fashion often failed to embrace her unique body shape with the grace she desired. This personal pursuit for a better fit evolved into a profound commitment to reshape the fashion industry.

Internships were key to shaping Tessa's journey. Her time at Underproduction, a Danish brand focusing on sustainable lingerie, showed her the importance of eco-friendly supply chains, sparking her passion for greener practices. An internship at Natan Couture further enriched her understanding of refined design and bespoke craftsmanship.

Driven by her dedication to a greener fashion world, Tessa expanded her knowledge at the University of Arts in London, refining sustainability in luxury markets. Delving into Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge broadened her insights.

These experiences formed the foundation of Tessa's approach. In 2020, she launched Borrenberghs—a living testament to her ideals. Borrenberghs goes beyond appearances; it's where Tessa's feminine touch meets innovative thinking. Her designs not only tell stories of creativity but also empower wearers. Yet, her goal reaches deeper; she's reshaping fashion itself.

Tessa's uniqueness lies in her innovative spirit. Her designs combine elegance, femininity, and influences from Belgian and Danish styles, rooted in the slow living philosophy. Her clothing isn't just about looks; it's about creating diverse possibilities.

Whatever she designs, it feels as good as it looks. The pioneer of feminine minimalism and sustainability. She knows how to dress a woman.

Guided by ideas of wellbeing, the essence of Borrenberghs style is balance: richness focused by restraint, simplicity imbued with warmth, complexity heightened by order. Be it fashion, interiors, or furniture, Borrenberghs’s unique brand of feminine minimalism speaks to the mind as much as the body, creating spaces for people.

“Enthusiasm, spontaneity, an eye for detail, positive attitude and  knowledge of people are rather exceptional qualities for such a young woman” - Sonia, Mentor

“Her knowledge and understanding of the luxury segment’s specificities were a great advantage. Above all, her inspiring perseverance and passion brought a positive mindset to our working environment, strengthening both the managing and creative teams when she was an intern. I can state with confidence that Tessa will succeed in her future endeavors. As she showed great promise to Natan.” - Lara Vanderstraeten. Retail- & salesmanager NATAN couture &  Edouard Vermeulen. Founder and own the Belgian fashion house NATAN.
